I have never shipped a car so I was unaware of the problems and dishonesty in this industry until trying to get a legitimate quote. From the very beginning, I received quotes from all over the US with varying prices to ship my car from Florida to Colorado. The more people I talked to, the shadier they all sounded. You get no guarantees and they all sound like desperate car salesmen that haven’t sold a car in months.

My first instinct was to pursue one of the lower quotes because I had no idea that you are only dealing with a broker. The fly by night guys will give you a low ball offer to reel you in and then you’re stuck and have no other choice but to pay the inflated figure they are going to change your job price to be. At that point it’s too late to make changes and you’re screwed.

Furthermore, this is a very unscrupulous and unregulated industry and you don’t know who is handling the shipping of your car until the very last second. By the time you do your due diligence, in most cases you wouldn’t trust the people who are handling your car after you read their reviews.

I figured out on my own, the more reputable brokers are straight up with their price quotes. They know the industry and are just trying to be honest because when it all boils down to who’s going to ship your car, they all use the same auto shippers. They get frustrated because they are bidding against fake quotes from the lowballers and they try to educate you on the process but until you see it for yourself, you don’t know who to believe.

That being said, you have to trust somebody and I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this web site that reviews car movers and brokers. All the auto movers will have good and bad reviews and as long as the majority of good reviews outweigh the bad ones, you have to cross your fingers at some point and take a chance with one of them.

You have to go through a broker until you actually know of an auto transport company direct that you want to deal with. The broker is simply getting a measly commission of about 10% of the total price to ship the car. The better the broker the more they communicate with you and walk you through the process.

I came across a good review from a very frustrated consumer that had gone through hell and back. They used Laura Curto from Motor Movers and had wonderful things to say about the woman so I picked up the phone and called her. Her direct line is 480-428-1266. Laura seemed very honest and conscientious so I crossed my fingers and gave her a go. She even gave me a little more info about the shipper in advance because I told her I wouldn’t use her unless I knew who was handling my car before I let it go. Everything she told me was right on and even after knowing what I learned in advance, I couldn’t avoid when the auto transport people wanted $100 more to ship the car than what we originally were told. That was beyond Laura’s control and it’s just the nature of this industry. When you get the call to ship the car, you have to be ready because they don’t give you much time. They move very quickly when a shipper identifies your car and want to take it with them to your destination. Usually, you only have about 24-48 hours at most to be ready to give them your vehicle. Everything went right as planned and my car was picked up quickly and professionally and arrived when they said it would. We had no damage and would use this shipper again in the future. I hope this review helps people like me that have no clue about this dirty little industry. Give Laura a call. She gives you her cell number and even answers the phone when she is with her family.
