First, Advice: Research the business. Many low ratings are due to missing pickup and/or delivery dates. Despite whatever is said over the phone, please realize that there is a centralized database for car transit and your car will be placed on it up for bid. A truck driver or transit company will accept a bid and fill out a load going a certain direction. It is unlikely this driver/company will have any link to who you called. Timing is all about drivers trying to optimize time, distance and load, as well as your bid.
I contacted National. They were the lowest bid for my route at $399. Many others were $499. Mine went on the database for $200. So my savings, probably affected the attractiveness of picking up my car over another. I arranged just before Memorial day weekend. I asked for pickup from my shop/business associate just after the holiday. They were called by "dispatch" asking for pickup that Saturday. They replied they would wait until 12:00. No show. I called and after some evasive phone work a nice lady confirmed that they had me scheduled for my original window (Tue/Wed after the holiday. All went correctly after that flub. Picked up on Tuesday and delivered a day or so later. The driver was independent, and fairly conscientious. So despite the one event of rescheduling pickup and missing that, my ORIGINAL date was met and service was delivered on time, despite the lower bid on my car. Realize though that my savings affected my probability of receiving it on time, but the corridor traveled was a very busy one. My outcome was good, and after stressing about it, even exceeded my lowered expectations. I was offered some small rebate to submit my review, and so I shall check the box. Hope this info helps. Most just don't understand the business and it's too much work to educate every customer.
