National Transport and an M100 Trailer

I had a M100 military trailer (for a jeep) that I had purchased on eBay shipped from San Antonio, Texas to Chesapeake, Virginia. I had thought about going to get it myself, but the price was too high (3 nights in hotels, 3000 mile round trip in a truck that gets 20 mpg with gas at 2.50 a gallon, a trailer rental in San Antonio, and a week of lost work - total of about $1500). I did the internet search thing, and National Transport gave me the best quote. The purchase was made in July, and delivery was in September.

The only problem with this transport was setting up the pickup in Texas. There was evidently a dearth of drivers coming east during the summer. When one was finally found, he and the original owner of the trailer could not get together because of work schedules. The first driver did not give the previous owner enough warning, and the owner was not able to get off work to allow pickup of the trailer.

There was also a period of bad weather involved - San Antonio got its first rain in a long time and places flooded for about a week, which put a stop to things for a while

I have to admit, I was going to write off the cost and go get the trailer myself, when I got several calls from both National Transport and the original owner. They had finally managed to work out their scheduling issues, and get the trailer on a truck. Less than a week later I had my trailer in my driveway. National Transport was very helpful throughout the entire process, and were always willing to talk with me when I needed help or reassurance.

While it may not have been the smoothest transaction in history, I realize that the difficulties I ran into were not the fault of the National Transport, and do not hold them responsible. I can't complain about anything in this transaction. They did what they said they would do, for what I consider to be a fair price. Customer Service is good, and I would buy Jenny some flowers if I knew where to send them. I would use National Transport again, and may, if I ever get around to restoring another vehicle (have to finish the jeep and trailer first).
