On August 23, I purchased a car to be transported to Miami to be loaded on a boat bound for St. Maarten, NA in the Caribbean. I made all the arrangements through National. They first promised one day that the car would be picked up from the dealership then when it wasn't picked up, I called and they said they had to find another carrier. Another few days went by when they said Champion would pick up the car the next day. It was two days before he arrived....without calls from National or Champion. I had to keep calling National to get an update. WE finally heard from the driver from Champion that he was at the dealership on Monday and promised the car would be delivered to the dock in Miami on Friday of that week. I had all the necessary papers, powers of attorney for the car to be transferred to the shipping company. I would not be in St. Maarten until the 20th of Sept....plenty of time to meet the boat. BUT--Champion didn't get to Florida until Saturday and the shipping office is closed on weekends so the car missed the customs inspection for the next week's boarding. We didn't know this until Monday when we called the Caribbean shipping agent to see if they had all the necessary documents. No one called us to tell us that the car didn't get there on Friday. Once again, we had to make all the calls to find out where our new car was. We were told it was put in a lot of Michigan Transport---no one at the Carib. shipping company heard of that company, information didn't have a listing for Michigan Transport and the driver for Champion didn't have a number or an address for Michigan Transport where he delivered the car! One week of hassling with National and Champion has brought no results to date. It is Sept. 13 and we still don't know where our car is and if it's safe. National seems to have washed it's hands of the deal and Champion has become hostile and "too busy" to deal with the problem. We are about ready to report the car stolen by Champion. No one is picking up the phone at National this morning...from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The Champion driver isn't picking up his cell phone either. So where is Michigan Transport. Champion wouldn't give us the number when we asked for it this morning. Dave said to "let him do his job...." DO NOT USE NATIONAL TRANSPORT AT ANY COST. Walt
