After I bid and won a nice So Cal Suburban, my thoughts went to "OK now what do I do for shipping?" I filled out an online form to get some quotes and quickly learned there's quite a difference in not only prices, but service types.
A large number of brokers simply take your deposit and post the move on a subscription website for drivers to pick up on. They can promise you a low price but if drivers aren't interested in the amount offered, your vehicle sits. I decided a lowball price wasn't for me.
After a bit of research and reading some of the horror stories on this site, I decided to look for a smaller outfit with excellent feedback. Joanne at Parker Trucking took my info and called me back a few hours later to say she had a very reliable driver known to her personally that could pick up my 'burb the next day. A contract was born!
I called my seller a couple of hours later to let him know that I had booked a carrier and was told the appointment had already been made by the UTF driver for the next morning. He called me back in the morning to report that the driver was on time and very professional in loading the Suburban. Estimated delivery LA to Toledo OH was 7 days.
On day 5, I got a call from the driver to arrange drop off for the next day (Day6). We made arrangements for a parking lot drop near me because my residential neighborhood is NOT big rig friendly. He even agreed to call me 1/2 hour before he would be there so I wouldn't have to sit and wait if he were delayed. We met within 15 mins of his estimate and he grounded my prize with much care in perfect shape. That's what I call "takin' care of business"
