First time shipper, novice, antique car hobbyist (under 4 cars). Highly skeptical and VERY cautious after bad experience with another carrier that I located on TransportReviews.com.
Other carrier was only in business 3 months, had 3-star rating, and only 17 reviews. Unfortunately, I had already committed funds, which they now refuse to refund and I am forced to sue them in Small Claims Court. I expect that will be a long ordeal, but that bad experience lead to my locating Reggie Willis on this very same website.
Once burned, I took extra precaution to research and learn the transport industry before making another costly mistake. When I called around, I was very deliberate in asking all the right questions that I did not know to ask before.
I spoke with Sam Levine of Reggie Willis Transport (RWT), who was very honest and direct in answering all my questions. I was quite impressed with the frankness of his answers, he was very clear on what he could and could not guarantee in timeframes, what he could and could not control with regard to the actual driver and truck, what he could and could not do for me. For me, that goes a long way, especially since I was promised the sun, moon, and stars from the other transport company that screwed me over.
When I asked detailed questions, I got straight talk and no sales pitch.
Bottom line, this is what I wanted:
1. Realistic time frame on when car could be picked up
2. Realistic time frame on who would pick up the car and what truck they would use
3. Telephone number of the driver and company that was used
4. Where the driver and company were licensed and in what state
5. The rating of the driver and company
6. The amount and type of insurance the driver and company had
7. Most importantly, how this whole process worked
Bottom line, this is what I GOT:
1. Answers to EVERY QUESTION
2. The name of drivers, telephone number and the make/model/year of their equipment
3. Company name, licensing state, insurance info, address and telephone
4. Company rating on CentralDispatch
5. Got top notch service - see below
Sam explained that he would post my trip on CentralDispatch to see what drivers were interested in the pick-up and then call me with info on the driver/company and let me decide whether to accept them or not.
Sam called and gave me time to research the company. I called him back after I researched the company and gave him the go ahead.
He told me when they could pick up the car and how long it would be for them to deliver the car.
Best of all, I PAID $000000.00 until delivery. That's right, nothing...no down payment, no scam, no garbage fly by night broker who takes his fee as the down payment and then leaves me hanging to pick up the pieces.
My car was picked up at 5:30 p.m., and in my driveway at 11:00 a.m. the next morning!
But that's not all there was to it....I received 3 telephone calls from the drivers letting me know their progress. I slept like a baby!
The drivers arrived EARLY and the car was in PERFECT condition. The seller had sent me pictures, so I knew exactly what to look for in the way of damage, and there was NOT ONE DING on my car!
I called Sam and told him that it was a shame that his customers did not leave more feedback, because it would have certainly made it easier for me to locate him on this website.
I mistakenly believed that a company with 17 reviews (3-stars) was better than a company with only 3 reviews (5-stars). How wrong I was!
I highly recommend RWT to anyone who is particular, wants an honest deal at a fair price!
