I was so dissatisfied with this company's service (or lack thereof) that I had to cancel my order for car shipping. I booked with them on April 20, 2010, and by May 31, 2010 (my earliest date of pickup), I had not heard from any carriers regarding the pickup of my car. I think five weeks is ample time to assure that one of their 256 carriers can accommodate my car. Furthermore, I was very upset because I called four times one week (beginning Monday, May 24, 2010 and ending Friday, May 28, 2010) and did not receive a phone call back until Saturday, May 29, 2010. When I spoke with Jack on Tuesday or Wednesday of that week, he told me that my agent Steve was extremely busy and could not call me back during the week when he said he would. However, when I spoke to Steve on Saturday, he said he had been on vacation. I could not trust anything anyone said!
I recently spoke with another transportation company who books their carrier first, then charges the deposit. Reliable Car Transportation's business practice of charging a deposit with no guarantee of a carrier is poor and I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Florida and the Caribbean. The amount of worrying and waiting is not worth your reduced cost which I have learned is not enough to guarantee a carrier to pick my car up.
Additionally, I was told that my cancellation had been finalized and all potential carriers had been notified. However, AFTER I already moved to my destination and another transport company had already shipped my car, I got three phone calls from three different carriers saying they could pick my car up in PA! Thus, either the agent did not correctly send out the information of my cancellation, or he did not do it at all, for on June 11, 2010 a carrier contacted me saying he could send a driver to pick my car up in Philadelphia. I had to inform them that I had cancelled the order 11 days before. He was surprised to hear this and said he would contact Reliable Car Transportation and call me back. He did not call me back. The three days later on June 14, 2010, not one but TWO different carriers called me saying they had a driver to pick my car up. I had to again inform both of them that I had cancelled the order, now 14 days prior to their calling me.
As per the contract, even if I had not cancelled my order, my car should have been picked up no later than 10 days from my earliest pick-up date. Why is it then that no carrier contacted me until 12 days after my earliest pick-up date? Again, this shows poor business practice.
I had sent several emails to the email address listed on my contract, but I never received a response to a single one. My emails were about the cancellation of my order, the request for a refund of the $200 deposit, my dissatisfaction with the business, and questioning why carriers were contacting me almost 2 weeks after I had cancelled the order. It is poor practice not to return my email or calls and then to give me false information regarding the status of my cancellation.
Finally, Reliable Car Transportation responded to my complaint through the Better Business Bureau and said they would refund my $200 deposit by the end of that week. That was 4 weeks ago and I have still not gotten a refund! I am extremely frustrated and unhappy with this company and I just want my money back! When I called my original agent to ask about this, he said he left the company because he did not agree with their business practices and started his own business.
I encourage everyone to LOOK ELSEWHERE when seeking a car transportation service!!! I ended up going with Total Car Shipping and was very happy with the results. They were able to find me a carrier within ONE DAY and ship my car across country in 3 days. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH RELIABLE CAR TRANSPORTATION UNLESS YOU WANT TO THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY!!!!!
