On New Years Eve at almost 7:00 p.m. I decided it was a good time to Google auto transporter for quotes to have my SUV shipped from CA to VA, expecting email quotes I could peruse the following day. In less than 5 minutes, I got a call from Debbie at Riley Auto Transport. She was all business, polite, professional, knowledgable, and to the point. She said it would take 7 to 10 days to assign a driver, 24 to 48 hours advance notice of pickup and delivery, guaranteed door to door service, a fully insured move, and 7 to 10 days to arrive. There was a $195 deposit that I suspect was a broker fee, while $830 going directly to the driver on delivery. Needless to say, the early bird gets the worm and Debbie got my business. Debbie said she would send me an email the next day (which surprised me because of the holiday) with pickup and driver information and to watch for my bank card to be debited $195. My card was debited Tuesday, and I received her email 5 days later. The wait time between my account being debited and receipt of the email was a bit unsettling, but everything came together perfectly in the end. The big day finally arrived when the driver called me and my point of contact in CA to arrange a pickup time. There was a bit of confusion in that the driver gave me one pickup date and my POC a different date, which caused several texts, emails, voicemails, and phone calls between me, my POC, the driver, and Debbie before it was finally straightened out. Debbie answered my calls and emails promptly despite the 3 hour time difference and called the driver to get the correct pickup date and time. After reading all the Riley reviews on this site, I have to say: Debbie, YOU ROCK! Other brokers may say you should not pay a deposit or they can guarantee a lower price. I say it is not always about the lowest price but rather what you get for your money. I got Debbie and I am so thankful I did. Bottom line, I had a verbal contract with a broker who found me the next-available truck and driver at a reasonable fair market value. It was a great first-time experience for me, and I have no regrets. I would recommend Debbie and Riley Auto Transport to anyone needing to transport a vehicle.
