I contracted Road Runner a month before we were to ship our car, and received great customer service up until the time the car was supposed to ship, at which point the company completely dropped me, would not answer my calls, and seemed unable to find a carrier unless I paid extra money. Several days before my ship date, I contacted the representative I had been working with (Philip), who called me back immediately and assured me they would have a carrier for me by Saturday (my ship date). On Saturday, there was no carrier, and I couldn't reach anyone at Road Runner to tell me what was going on. On Monday I made multiple calls to Philip and he never called me back. On Tuesday, someone else called me from RoadRunner and told me they had a carrier, but I would have to pay $100 more than stated in my contract. I refused and told them I would wait until they found someone for the amount we had agreed on. I never heard from RoadRunner again. We spent hours over the next day or two on hold, trying to reach someone at RoadRunner, anyone, and finally called another transport company. The other company (Elite Auto Shipping) found a carrier for us within hours and our car was on its way the next day with no issues. We did end up paying $100 more to Elite than our original contract with RoadRunner (i.e. the same amount that RoadRunner later tried to charge us), but I was happy to pay that amount to a company that dealt with us honestly and provided fair and fast service. RoadRunner seems to have a model where they don't start looking for a carrier until PAST the ship date, and seems to be doing a bait and switch where they can't actually ship your car for the contracted price. I understand they may not be able to guarantee a certain ship date and price in every case, but the least they can do is provide decent customer service and communicate with their customers promptly and honestly. STAY AWAY.
