I was beyond pleasantly surprised with my experience shipping my car last month from Los Angeles to Boston. I had done a lot of research on the process and was pretty scared by some of the reviews I read and experiences people had. The only company that seemed to have mostly positive experiences was Ship-A-Car Direct, but I was still worried, especially since I wouldn't be there when they picked my (brand new) car up.
Things couldn't have gone better! I spoke to Tom on the phone after I had to cancel my first scheduled pick up and he set me up for the next day. TransAuto Logistics, the actually carrier company, was great as well. Not only were they ahead of the expected arrival date, they stayed in contact with me, calling the day before to let me know they would be there the next day and then the morning of arrival to let me know they were an hour out. My car was delivered ahead of schedule, without a scratch, and for a reasonable price. I will definitely use them again when I move back to LA!! For the most stress-free car transport, I would go with them.
