Good service, but price raised twice

I needed to ship a Honda Civic from Ellicott City MD to San Francisco CA. It was the first time I have to ship a car. Initial inquiry sent in June. Selected 3 brokers as finalists to contact in July. Locked in with Ship A Car Direct in late July because they were reachable thru phone when I needed them, and called me back quickly if phone not picked up (other companies simply did a bad job in customer communication - too busy to pick up phone or call back, and could not keep up with their promises).

I was not too thrilled though that the price was raised twice (from $1,400 to $1,525, then just before the carrier was assigned it was up another $50). Not sure whether the reasons given (gas cost and car delivery market condition) were justifiable, but felt like I was held hostage once the carrier search has started. A quote is an executable contract, I expect it to stand until it expired.

In any case I did not have the time or energy to restart the process. The carrier was selected within a few days, car picked up and delivered within my expected window. The truck was in good, study condition, and truck driver was friendly.

Overall the service is a B- in my scale. I would have given it a B+ or A- if not because of the price-raise experience. I decided to write this review to share my experience (and also get $30 refund from Ship A Car Direct).
