Being a type A person and after reading horror stories online, I was very anxious in choosing an auto transport company for my car. After comparing numerous reviews on various sites, I decided to get a quote from 2 companies. Before finally choosing one, I sent the contact persons a list of 11 questions to gauge each company's customer service. Emily is the contact person from Ship-a-car-direct, and she promptly and thoroughly answered my questions satisfactorily- so I decided to go with Ship-a-car-direct.
I was already at the destination, so timing is not really an issue. However, after one week of my car not being picked up, I was slightly anxious. Emily sent me an email (before I had to ask her) providing me with a few options to expedite the process, and we settled on one ( new quote). Soon afterwards (the same day that the new quote was updated), a carrier contacted me. However, the carrier wanted to pick up the car within 3 hours of the call, so after communicating with Emily, we had to have the carrier release my car back to Ship-a-car-direct. Emily responded fairly quickly during this chaotic scenario, assuring me that she will find another carrier if this first one did not work out.
2 days after that, a second carrier called for pick-up the next day. I was somewhat hesitant going with this carrier due to a really bad review and a crash report online, but Emily contacted me regarding my concerns and provided the statistics she had. I was able to feel comfortable enough to go with the second carrier-and it turned out great! No damage (just a little dusty which was expected), car interior was clean, and driver was able to accommodate my preferred schedule (Saturday morning instead of Friday night after 9pm which was a little scary for a female in a not-too-safe neighborhood). I had to be on the ball for contacting the driver to see where he was a few times, but calls were picked up quickly and schedule confirmed.
Overall, a smooth experience using Ship-a-car-direct. Price was on-par with other companies, and the carriers selected through them seem to be responsible ones.
