I had used Ship A Car direct once before, approximately 3 years ago and everything went well. For this transport I got three quotes from well reviewed companies (Executive Auto, AmeriFreight) and Ship A Car Direct was the lowest. (by about $100 for a $700, approx 1000 mile shipment) I knew what to expect from shipping 2 cars previously. I did not get hassled with multiple phone calls or emails like once previously after requesting multiple quotes. About 4 days after receiving my email quote I called Kosta and discussed the shipment. He was pleasant and knowledgeable. It is important to provide your shipper with any details upfront before they try to locate a trucking company. Things like car alarms, times of day for delivery/pickup, etc. You will typically have to pay the truck driver for their portion of the fee ($500 out of $700 total) with a money order or cashiers check at delivery, but this Ship A car direct will allow you to pay them with a credit card and they will pay the trucker, although for a 5% fee of the truckers portion ($25). Due to circumstances at my delivery, I had to do this. They need to know this upfront so they can find a trucker who will allow this form of payment. I called Kosta about 3 working days prior to my first shipment date. They picked up on my first date and delivered 3 days later, one day ahead of the estimate. In my experiences, the truckers will be of variable personalities but will typically just want to load/unload your car and get on their way... all business. I used the Ship A Car direct app to take pictures before and after delivery, but not sure how it works because the pictures don't seem to be stored in the app. I suggest taking your own pictures also, and if any damage then take more detailed pictures also. I suggest reading all the helpful FAQ info on their website which does a good job of explaining the whole process, especially if you're new to this. You can read up on the "rules" about packing stuff in your car/trunk, but in my experiences the truckers did not look in the trunk, at least in my presence. I have not had any damages, but I would imagine that its very important to document any damage on the Bill of Laden BEFORE signing it. The truckers will typically want you to sign quickly and get on their way. I had my car waxed and detailed prior to the shipment, partly to be able to better show any damages during the transport. This BEST THING about this whole experience was that I paid for UNCOVERED transport, but the truck that showed up was a COVERED transport, and had some very expensive vehicles on it. My car arrived in pristine condition!! I suspect this would be rare occurrence and would not count on it, but it was nice surprise.
