After researching many car shipping companies and getting three quotes including Ship a Car Direct, I decided to go with Ship a Car Direct because the reviews were consistently good and the price was exactly in line with what I saw from forum posts online from other people who moved this time of year over a long distance. Bruce was our primary contact at Ship a Car Direct and he helped us every step of the way. He provided the initial quote quickly and honestly. He answered all of our questions (this was our first time shipping a car) and made sure we understood the process. Bruce even realized we were a little bit stressed about the uncertainty of our shipping timeline and sent us a reassuring email saying that it was normal for a carrier to wait to book until later into the process for our situation (wider pickup/drop-off window and our destination was 1,200 miles away).
What stressed my wife and I the most was that we had a tight schedule our move. Packers were coming on a Wednesday, everything was to be loaded the next day (Thursday), and we were driving 22hrs to our new home starting at noon on Friday. We wanted our cars delivered on Sunday but needed access to them until the Tuesday before the packers arrived on Wednesday. Even though the quote we got was for an open carrier, we got extremely lucky and an enclosed carrier had a late cancellation (a 2 car enclosed carrier) and accepted our shipment. The carrier lived 5hrs from the city we were moving to and was able to deliver on our first available delivery date. In summary, Bruce was spot on regarding the price needed to get a carrier to accept our 2 cars for shipment, the entire shipping process was smooth, and I would willingly pay the same price again to Ship a Car Direct in order to move our 2 cars 1,200 miles away on a very tight schedule.
