Very pleased despite great fears

Like many, I had read the plethora of horror stories on the interwebs about the car transport industry. I was pretty much totally freaked out about having to ship my car cross-country from Los Angeles to Maine. I had a pretty narrow 4-day window of when I could receive the vehicle in Maine. Otherwise, I was going to have a real problem. One company I contacted in Los Angeles flat out told me to just drive myself as this 4 day window, according to them, was unreasonable. The next broker company I contacted didn't get back to me with a transport company for an entire week, during which time I did my due diligence and realized they weren't even a licensed company with the DOT! A friend of mine in federal law enforcement had a co-worker who had recently relocated from CA to DC. He recommended Ship A Car Direct. I thought that was as good a recommendation as any. They had the process totally streamlined. They said the 4-day window was totally doable and that they ship cars up and down the East Coast and would have no problem getting the car up to Maine (other companies had expressed to me this would significantly increase the cost)- cars basically go to major hub cities and then get divided up to the more off-the-beaten path places. They found a shipping company almost immediately and within less than 2 days my car was picked up, exactly on time, by a driver from the Cargo Management Group, Inc. I watched as they loaded my vehicle carefully onto the huge semi and secured it. Everything looked legit, but I wondered if I'd ever see my car again. 8 days later I flew into Portland, ME in the morning. I had been in touch with CMG regarding my flight arrival time, and less than 3 hours after landing they dropped my car off at my front door. The car had a lot of dead bugs on it, which is unsurprising given that this was an open truck, but the car itself was in fine condition. I was genuinely extremely concerned about this whole process after reading the many, many terrible reviews and horror stories on chat sites and review sites all over the internet. These two companies definitely do it right and I give my full recommendation. I did not at all expect this process to go so smoothly.
