Worked pretty well, not too expensive, but did go over initial quote by a bit.

Was looking for someone to pick up a new New Civic Type-R from Illinois and ship it over to California. Overall, the process worked out fine because I was out of state while it was being delayed.

Initially, Ship-A-Car-Direct gave me a quote of ~$1050, and a possible bidding price of $950. I accepted the $950 potential charge and waited patiently for someone to bite. Unfortunately, there weren't many people out in the Illinois area, so it didn't get any bites. When being called back, I was told that a company - Buya Transportation - had offered to pick it up for $1200. Now, $1200 was out of my acceptable range since I was given an initial quote of $1050.

A few days later, I get an email saying that Buya had picked up my car and that the upfront payment was made and $975 was due on delivery. Knowing the costs of things, I was suspicious that they wanted to do a full $1200 payment without my permission. Unfortunately, my suspicions were correct on calling them. However, after a bit of back and forth, they were able to refund me $100 from the upfront payment to bring it down to $1100.

Though the car took a bit longer to ship than expected, it worked out because I had to take an unexpected trip to Massachusetts. The car arrived two or three days after I returned.

David was helpful, although he could not recall my exact situation without the order number. In his defense of the overcharge, I was unable to pick up my phone during the hospital visitation hours due to the hospital's rules.

John, the driver, did not speak English very well, however, the car arrived with no miles on it and in generally good health. The only issue I had was that it definitely collected a bunch of dirt during transit. I was planning on giving it a detailing anyways, so it wasn't much of an issue.

At the end of the day, the car made it in one piece for a price that was decent given the distance and location. There were some hiccups when it came to pricing and communication. I didn't feel like a king, but I was certainly not mistreated.

We sincerely apologize if there was any miscommunication on our part regarding the quote and pricing. We try our best to be as up front as possible regarding the price and any possible price increases, especially when dealing with remote locations. We are sorry if we did not make this clear over the phone or in our emails, rest assured that we will work on improving that moving forward. We are glad to know that your car has been delivered safe and sound.
