transport from California

The vehicle arrived on time in Boston from its point of origin in California. As expected, there were drops of a tar-like substance covering the windshield and front hood. I washed the car after I got it home and most of the tar substance came off in a single washing.
One piece of damage that evidently resulted from shipment was the loss of a plastic guard and cosmetic shield that covered the rear left bolt of the factory-installed roof rack. I had focused on cosmetic elements of the car when performing my pickup damage check but failed to notice the loss of this guard.
Another consequence of transport had been the need to purchase and install a new battery for the car. This need probably resulted in part from the relatively long shipment period (two weeks).
I would recommend Specialty as a carrier because their service is relatively reliable and predictable. I had hoped to receive my car sooner and in somewhat better cosmetic condition, but the fourteen-day transport time and the deposits of tar-like substance on the front windshield and hood are understandable consequences of shipping a car cross-country in an uncovered conveyance. Finally, the rig driver called to tell me the car would be ready one day earlier than it actually turned out to be ready; luckily this discrepancy did not cause any significant problems for us.
