I almost decided not to have a car shipped at one point in my search to find an auto transporter. I read about so many horror stories and bad reviews that I thought I’d never be able to find someone to safely delivery my new car. I thought it would be better to drive the 1100 mile round trip to pick it up myself.

Luckily before giving up I found transportreviews.com and Specialty Mobile Systems, the highest ranking company on the site. They had almost perfect reviews, page after page of them. So good in fact I at first I didn’t believe they were legitimate. I read through all of them and it gained my trust.

I called Specialty Mobile Systems (SMS) and received a quote. I checked with about 15 other companies first and the quote from SMS was actually at the low end of the range. They quoted me $595 for the move compared to quotes of $495 to $1250 from the other companies. Again, it sounded too good to be true so I decided to think about it overnight.

The next day I spoke with Dee at SMS. She was friendly and a pleasure to talk with. My order was placed and I was told the car should be picked up within 10 days of the 1st date it was available. I was all set.

The next day at work I learned I would have to do some traveling in the coming weeks. It wouldn’t affect my delivery as long as the delivery occurred on time. My concern was that the place of origin wasn’t in a very convenient location and I was afraid the delivery could be delayed if we had to wait for a carrier. I called SMS back and explained my situation and offered to pay more than the quoted amount to make sure everything happened on time. That’s when I received my first pleasant surprise. I was told that they were going to work hard to find a carrier and they didn’t think I had to raise the offering just yet. Instead I was advised to give it a few days to see what could be worked out. I was nervous, but agreed to wait until the next week.

One day later I received a call from SMS that they found a carrier, but they carrier would be in the area a day or two earlier than the car was going to be ready. I couldn’t move my date back so again I offered to pay more money to delay the pick up so everything would work out on time. Again I was told that extra money might not be needed. They were going to call the carrier back and see what could be worked out and based on the response we could decide our next move. That is when I received my second pleasant surprise. SMS arranged for the carrier to pick the car up the day after it was to be available, and it wouldn’t cost me any additional money.

The arranged pick up date came and the carrier, Great Lakes Transport, picked up the vehicle on schedule. The next day my new car was delivered to me and I couldn’t be happier.

Specialty Mobile Systems had two occasions in which they could have easily received $100 to $200 more from me and I would have been happy to give it to them. Instead they proved to be an HONEST and RELIABLE company that wasn’t out to make a quick buck. They have earned a customer for life. I will use SMS if I ever have to have another car moved. You can trust these people, they’re great!
