I chose Specialty over other companies, including one I used before with good results, despite their higher cost, because of the high ratings, and my understanding from their email that "Specialty Mobile is a carrier as well as a broker...our quotation may be somewhat higher than others, the value to you is we assure only ourselves or a select carrier...." After booking I was informed that they are carriers only when they ship on enclosed trucks. The transport company they selected was below average. The driver initially wanted me to go about 5 miles to a pick up location. He was not in contact with me after picking up the vehicle. When I called him, he informed me he was no longer with the carrier and that the vehicle was with someone else. After a few phone calls I was told that that driver was let go, and given the phone number of ther new driver, and the car was delivered on the promised date (a week later) in good but filthy condition. The lesson: it's hard to evaluate the actual transport company that ships the vehicle. Specialty was very prompt and friendly, but they didn't earn the premium rate.

We apologize that our service did not meet this customers expectations. His vehicle was picked up and delivered within the estimated pick up and delivery windows. Unfortunately we can not ensure that vehicles shipped in an open transporter will not arrive in a dirty condition; the vehicle is not actually traveling the miles on the road itself, the trailer is. While enclosed transport is much more expensive, the vehicles are actually covered due to the construction of the equipment. In an open carrier we can not cover vehicles due to the fact that the wind and vibration can actually be detrimental to the finish of the vehicle. Amy/Specialty Mobile
