BEWARE – TOTAL SCAM

We recently had to ship a car across the U.S. (from California to Georgia). After inquiring from several companies, Summit Transport Group offered the lowest rate ($800). We confirmed via telephone, email, and even contract that the TOTAL cost would be $800, no hidden fees or anything. I was given a contract to review and sign, and was asked to provide a credit card so they could charge me a security deposit of $125. The contract CLEARLY stated that they have withdrawn $125 for the deposit, and that the remaining fee to be paid was $675.

Everything on paper and via telephone was clearly stated and seemed legit. But after I had paid the fee, my car was not picked up on time and did not arrive on the day promised. This completely screwed up my plans. What made it worse was that on the day the car was dropped off, the transporting company demanded I pay $800 in cash or money order upfront in order to get the car. When we pulled up the contract to show them and explain that we already paid an initial deposit of $125 and should ONLY owe an additional $675, they would not have any of it and demanded that we pay the $800, or they would take our car to storage (of which we would have had to pay even MORE money to get it back). They told me that their charge was $800 for the transport, and that I should contact Summit Group for whatever additional fees I had paid them. So, with my car in their possession and my hands tied, I paid the $800 and proceeded to contact Summit Group for a refund of my deposit.

For the next two weeks, I made numerous phone calls and emails to Tony – NO ANSWER or RESPONSE. I called the company’s customer service line several times and was given the run around and told OVER and OVER again that they would “contact the truck company and call me back”. Needless to say, I NEVER got a phone call back or a refund of any money. This company and is UNRESPONSIVE, DISHONEST, and an absolute SCAM!!!! Please be aware of this company and AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
