In order for a vehicle to be transported, even if inoperable, it needs to roll, steer, and brake for safety reasons. This information is given to all customers prior to dispatching any vehicle. It is the customer's responsibility to answer all questions regarding the vehicle honestly and accurately. In this case, we were not aware this particular vehicle had no brakes until the driver arrived to pick up the vehicle. Instead of canceling, the driver took extra time to load the vehicle safely and made sure it was securely fastened on the truck. Although he was able to load the vehicle safely, this was not the case upon delivery. Because the vehicle had no brakes and the delivery location was on a hill, the driver could not safely unload the vehicle without the assistance of a tow truck. It was necessary for the driver to do what he had to do to insure a safe delivery without any damages to the vehicle and all parties involved. Also, the driver called in advance for pick up and still had to wait for the person releasing the vehicle to wake up. I was advised that the driver called and spoke to the delivery contact 2 days prior to delivery to confirm the date and time frame for drop off and also that there would be a strong possibility a tow truck would be needed. This situation could have been avoided if the customer would have notified us prior to dispatch that this vehicle had no brakes.
