Hello,

I would like to make a very serious formal complaint about a Auto Transport company working in the state of Florida by the name of "Town And Country Auto Transport". The link to their web site is at:

http://www.move-auto.com/

I spoke to this company on Friday, November 26th to ask for their services to get my Toyota Supra moved from Henderson, NV to Austin, Texas to have performance work performed. I spoke with a representative by the name of Mark Allen. He was very adamant about not being able to do anything for me til he received my credit card number. I informed Mr. Allen that I needed a closed transport due to the value of my car and the contents that would be inside of it. The quote was excellent, but that was the start of the misleading. He faxed me over a contract that I would need to sign.

I did not get an opportunity to even look at the contract until Sunday evening, November 28th. I looked it over and several things stood out in the contract that I wasn't particularly fond of. First I learned they are only brokers, they do not care about what happens to your car after they receive your money. They also state in the contract they are not responsible for any damaged or stolen items. I was uneasy about the deal, but signed the contract that night and sent it in.

When I got into my work (I work at a Law Enforcement Agency here in Las Vegas) on Monday morning, November 29th, I spoke to my wife who told me that they had already charged our credit card on Friday!!! Why would a company charge my card without my consent and without having received my signed contract?!?! I then got suspicious and looked up their company and noticed a long list of complaints. The web site for these comments can be found at:

Town and Country is 35th on the list at the time of this writing. As soon as I saw all the complaints and horror stories, I immediately called the company and requested that the contract be cancelled (which I have 7 days to do so according to the contract). I also asked for a full refund of $400.00 for my deposit. I was passed off from person to person and no one would help me or the particular person I needed to speak to was "out to lunch", even though it was 4:30 pm in Florida at the time of the call.

I spoke to several people trying to get ahold of Nick Chase, who is not only their entire Accounting Section, but also the owner of the company from what I found out. I got his assistant (forget the name) and when I got upset and demanded a refund, he gave me the "you will receive your refund in 10-15 BUSINESS DAYS". When I told him "by then my contract will be null and void and it allows you to keep my deposit" he laughed and said "well I guess you aren't going to get your refund then, are you?"

I hung up the phone and called my credit card company to file fraud charges immediately and ask that these charges be stricken from my record. They are in the process of sending us the proper paperwork and new credit cards to overcome this situation. I am writing this to ensure that this company does not do this to another person and the proper steps are taken to prevent fly-by-night crooks from doing business anymore.

DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE WITH YOUR CREDIT, CREDIT CARD INFO AND MOST IMPORTANTLY YOUR VEHICLE WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!
