Do not use White Dove Inc. out of Oregon. They are unprofessional and irresponsible. My wife and I had a contract with a carrier White Dove Inc., out of Oregon through a broker Cascade Inc. The whole experience with them was very frustrating and stressful.
We shipped two vehicles from Washington to Florida. Originally Chris Lazar (the company owner) of White Dove Inc was going to pick them up on July 31, 2008. He called me the day before and told me that pick up day was pushed back to August 1st and if I could pay the whole amount $2,551 up front for fuel cost. I agreed to pay $1,000 at pick up and the rest $1,551 at delivery. Since we were leaving the state on August 1st, we left the vehicles and $1,000 with our friends. When I called my friend to see if everything went okay, he told me that Peter not Chris picked up the vehicles. Since I was never told about this by Chris, I called him to make sure if that was what White Dove Inc., arranged. I kept in touch with the driver John, Peter (Pedro) was riding with him, after the pick up. Since Chris originally told me that it would take 5 days to get to Florida, I was expecting to get our vehicles back on August 5th or 6th. On August 8th, I called John and he told me that he was still in Idaho but would be able to make it to Florida on August 10th. I couldn’t get a hold of him till August 11th and when he called me back, he said that he was still in Idaho and stopped driving because White Dove Inc hadn’t paid him for fuel. I was furious. I called the company owner Chris but he never returned my call. I called the broker Cascade Inc., out of desperation. The customer rep told me that they are responsible for finding a carrier and get our vehicles on the truck but after that they couldn’t guarantee anything. I asked for a manager and left a message with her. Within 10 minutes, she called me back and said that she would find the owner and try to talk to him. If she had to, she would even go over there and knock on their door – the broker’s office was near White Dove Inc’s. In this very stressful situation, only good thing I experienced was that professionalism and enthusiasm of Cascade Auto Shipper’s manager Kim. I don’t know what she told Chris and John, but the truck started moving that day. We finally received our vehicles on August 15th – total 15 days. I gave the driver John the rest $1,551, but I told him it cost me more on a rental car because of the delay. He told me to send the rental car invoice to the company. At least our vehicles didn’t have any damage but I am very bitter about the whole thing. Initially I rented a car for a week. Although Chris said 5 days, I thought there might be some unforeseen road conditions etc, and 7 days should be enough, but I had to extend a rental car for additional 8 days. I called Chris to reimburse us for the additional cost of $325.05. He left a message next day saying that I shouldn’t have paid the driver. That comment proved me what kind of business owner he was – dishonest, unprofessional, and doesn’t care about his workers and customers.
