My car was contracted to be drop off at DAS terminal on December 21 2009 and arrive in California on Jan 4 2010. When I used there "lovely" online system it showed that my car never left Texas until January 4th. When I called customer service I was given no answers accept for it is leaving today. The manager called me back the next morning and said there was bad weather. I checked the weather myself and weather was NO WHERE NEAR BAD. In fact the weather did not dip below 60 degrees until January 4th but it should have been here by then. The hard freezes and extreme weather did not start until the night of January 3rd in Texas. The manager also stated that my car would be in CA by Friday the 8th. Every time I checked my car it was still in Texas on that day. I never saw other terminals out side of Texas until January 9th, the day after the manager said it would be here. My car did not make it to California until January 10th. The online system conveniently changed the due date every day I checked. I recieved the call to pick up my car on Monday, January 11, 2010, 7 days past due.
When the car arrived it was damaged. The back window on the drivers side was shattered only being held together by the tint. The paint was chipped all down the door and onto the back fender and bumper. The person who was checking the car out was in shock themselves and said none of the other cars were damaged that came off of that truck.
I am very upset because every time I called about information after my car was dropped of initially I was given multiple answers to the same questions. I even had one representative talk firmly to me when I questioned why it was December 30th and my car was still at the drop off location. She firmly stated that my car will leave on January 2, 2010 and WILL get there on January 4th. The next representative I talked to on the 4th said that was an estimated date and there is no way of them knowing. The manager called the next day and tried to blame it on bad weather in other states when the company is based in Texas.
Folks becareful of the sign off sheet because the statement wants you to sign and say you recieved the car and that the carrier was not liable pass that point of any damages. I was then told that it would be a lengthy process before DAS would respond to the damages. When I called they were conveniantly not accepting calls even though it was before 6pm Central time.

I know its a booger but I so wish I would have just kept the money and drove. The estimated damages are over $500.

DAS has researched this move. We apologize for not explaining the possible delays caused by our drivers wanting to spend some holiday time with family. These holiday delays caused this vehicle to arrive approximately one week past our original ETA. Please note that this customer did not purchase a guaranteed transit time option so the arrival date provided is only an estimate. We regret the damage caused to the vehicle. The claim was settled with the customer for approximately $1100.00.
