The Estes truck driver directed me to sign the invoice before the items were unloaded from the truck. The boxes were not secured to a pallet or placed inside my garage as arranged with Estes by my contractor. An Estes company rep. denied this arrangement when I called later, even though these instructions were printed on the invoice that I signed. A $900 toilet was on its side when the back of the delivery truck was opened. The loose small boxes were unloaded first and as I was inspecting them the driver left the toilet in the middle of my driveway where he had parked his truck. There was a lot of rattling inside the box when it was being unloaded. A subcontractor on site heard it and told me while I was busy opening the other boxes. With the driver back in the truck, I opened the box and found the toilet in shatters. I called out to the driver, who I know saw me in his side mirror, but he drove off. I called Build.com and mentioned the poor service I received from Estes and the horrible reviews/ratings that Estes has on a variety of sites. I asked how I could avoid having them as my carrier for any future orders. This is what I was told - a customer can ask for another shipping company (many companies use more than one) at the time of placing a phone order. I received similar poor service from Estes years ago. At the time I thought it was an isolated occurrence. I see now that is part of their way of doing business.
