Unethical Pricing

I have only shipped one car in the past so I have minimal knowledge about how to do this. I googled it and put my name up for truckers to call me for shipping. Vince Caba at Freight Brokers of America emailed me first.
The e-mailed quote was 850.00. The first time he contacted me he told me that it may cost a little more but that he would let me know. He wanted my credit card info to charge me half of the money up front but I refused. Then he didn't call me when he said that he would so I called him. He advised me then that there was a 100.00 broker fee. I questioned him and he made out like he "forgot" to tell me. I relented but told him that I would do it but only when he got me a truck because I needed to get my vehicle to my son in college. Next he called me and said that he found a truck but that I needed to pay him the 150.00 broker fee. This was the first time that he tried to steal 50.00 from me. Needless to say we "discussed" it and he "remembered" that he had said 100.00, not 150.00.

He said the truck driver wanted 1000.00 to move my car. Again, I relented on the price because I needed to get my truck to my son. The truck driver (B&A Transport out of Pelham, NC) was on time and easy to work with. When they showed me their invoice it was for 1050.00 NOT 1000.00. I discussed it with them and they said that the Broker (Vince) wrote the invoice. I e-mailed him to correct the invoice, reminded him that we agreed on 1000.00 NOT 1050.00 and he said "OK" that he would fix the invoice. This was the second time that he tried to steal 50.00 from me.

Then the truck arrived with no correction on the invoice. The truck driver and I called Vince and Freight Brokers of America multiple times with no response. I finally got them about the 8th time that I called. Vince said he would call the truck driver, and he did. Then he lied to me about the conversation, not knowing that I called the truck driver too, and threatened to "hold" my truck at his "yard" until I paid him the extra 50.00 that he lied to me about originally. The truck driver understood that it wasn't about the 50.00 but the fact that Vince from Freight Broker of America lied about the cost to me. So the truck driver agreed to take the 1000.00 that I was originally quoted.

NEVER use this company. Stay far away. Please e-mail me if you have questions and I will be glad to discuss it with you.
