Unbelieveable. Let's start by saying you should read EVERY contract before using ANY services from ANYONE. That is just common sense. Also, you should hear what the representatives of the company tell you over the phone and stand behind your own words. Lastly, I don't know what gave this customer the impression that we were NOT a broker, as NO CARRIER WILL EVER CALL OR CONTRACT DIRECTLY WITH THE CUSTOMER. This industry is ran by brokers like us, that can provide Customer Service, updates, replacement carriers if the need arises and have access to, literally, every trucking company in the nation. As we keep the trucks full, we get discounts that we, then, pass on to our customers. But the issue here seems to be that this particular customer forgot to mention that we told him several times we work with a 5 business pickup window for operable vehicles and 10 for inoperables (this is the fastest pickup policy in the industry, feel free to check around). When the order was setup, he requested Saturday pickup preferably, but said the week was fine as long as we called him first. Then we found out that the vehicle was actually inoperable (which was not disclosed to us) so we needed a different type of truck that had the equipment to handle a non-running vehicle. We still kept working to cater to his specific needs and found him 2 trucks during the week, which he declined (even though he agreed to do it initially and we gave him the notice he requested). He then changed the whole deal and said that it could only be picked up on Saturday, no weekdays at all (even though he had said the week was also good). We bent our own rules and work hard to get him a new truck as he requested for the following Saturday. Of course, before we could even make it to the following Saturday he decided to cancel. Per our contract (which he signed) he should have gave us 10 business days (as the car was inoperable) and should have been charged the full deposit as we did assign 2 TRUCKS that he refused. Instead we kept working on his request and charged him NOTHING. When he cancelled, instead of charging the full deposit (disclosed in our contract) we just applied the cancellation fee (also disclosed on the contract) as if no trucks were ever assigned (even though we assigned 3). Basically, he commited to a 10 business day contract but gave us zero, none. Only one saturday and then he cancelled. Honestly, I do not know why he feels cheated or like he shouldn't have to pay, at least, the cancellation fee. If anyone got cheated in this deal is King of the Road, and the 3 truckers we hired for him and had to cancel due to the constant changes on the customer's part.
Furthermore, no fees are hidden anywhere, everything is disclosed in out short, 19-item contract.
We can back all of this with numerous emails and recorded phone conversations we exchanged with this customer. I will be happy to make them available to anyone that interested in them.
