START EARLY, DON'T ACCEPT ANYTHING LESS THAN EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE

You should schedule your transport two weeks before you want your car to be picked up. Expect that there will be delays in the company finding a suitable driver, problems with the driver's truck, weather issues, and off schedule pick up and drop off times. My driver called me a day before my scheduled pick up and told me he had to pick it up a day early or he wouldn't pick it up at all (lame!). This made it extremely difficult for me because I had to make drastic changes to my travel plans last minute, which is expensive if you are travelling long distance by plane. I would advise that you make it 100% clear with your contact that you will not do business with them if they do not honor your agreement. Ask them to find multiple drivers for your time frame just in case something happens. If you want to avoid all the fuss, just suck it up and drive the car yourself. Even if you hate driving, you will at least have peace of mind that your situation is taken care of. Plus, you can carry more by car than you can by plane and in fact it is more expensive to ship your car and fly than it is to drive across the country (CA to CT).

Magic Carpet should have done a better job in making sure that our agreement was honored and that I was being treated professionally. If a someone in my industry repeated what my driver did (demanding an early departure for their convenience) they would be out of business very soon. I was hoping to avoid things like this by choosing to go with a broker instead of directly going to the driving company but in the end, having a broker didn't make a difference. They cannot do anything except find more drivers, and if you are in a pinch for time, then the brokers are really powerless.

The one positive thing about the car shipping company, Skyline (not the broker) was that they delivered my car extremely fast. They picked it up on Wednesday in CA and it was in CT by Monday at noon.
