So the task of choosing a car carrier is a lot more daunting than I ever thought it would be. From the moment I put through my request on the internet until maybe two days before the vehicle was delivered I was BOMBARDED with calls from every carrier service from California to New York. One man in particular stood out, though. His name was Jeff Vigue and he represented Magic Carpet. He told me exactly how the industry worked, why I was receiving so many quotes in such a wide range (from $900 to $1500) and what I should look out for when selecting a company to work with.
He was one of the first to call and because of his advice, I was able to weed out a few companies that I would have otherwise strongly considered because of the price they were quoting.
Some highlights on using Jeff:
1. I didn't have to pay an upfront contract fee
2. I didn't have to sign a contract which made it mandatory to use him or his team.
3. I chose him on a Friday evening and he had my car dispatched and assigned Saturday afternoon
Now, his was not the cheapest quote... in fact it was up there, just a few were more than his. But after reading some of the horror stories from a few of the cheaper companies and considering the fact that they wanted me to pay an upfront fee and sign a contract, I decided the premium was worth the peace of mind.
The car company picked the car up at the exact time they said they would: 1pm Saturday afternoon ON THE DOT, and the car was delivered to my home 1pm Sunday. It was being driven from Alabama to California...No dings, scratches... it was dirty from travelling on the upper deck of a double decker for a few days, but nothing wrong with the car.
In a nut shell, Jeff did a great job and I'd use him again.
