Got my price from one of Mid-America's drivers as he stopped for lunch at a Dairy Queen in Key Largo. He called his office and they promptly called back to confirm. He was a pleasant, down to earth driver. I had grown increasingly uncomfortable with my previous contacts in auto transport: they would quote a great price, but only two actually explained that they were just posting the load on a job board and my truck would get picked up when someone thought it was worth his while to take the load. Everyone wanted a non-refundable deposit which of course was their commission for arranging transport. That meant the remainder was what the trucker got. Mid-America's quote was better than all but the most unlikely to be picked-up, and was a hard quote, not an estimate, with no surcharges or other monkey business, They asked for no deposit, just pay COD to the driver. They delivered my truck in a very short time. I live well down the Florida Keys. Several of the brokers I had considered were claiming to quote door to door, but then switched to only going to Miami- a 3 hour drive one way. One quoted $800 extra for the Keys portion, which was Mid America's total bill- door to door! Mid-America's delivering driver was another real pleasant fellow- anyone would like him right away. He handled the unloading like the pro he was/is. My truck was a grimy oily mess from road grime and maybe riding in the exhaust stream, plus it ran with a miss from getting water in the distributor- I imagine it went through some nasty weather in an inclined upward position. I saved a bundle over going with an enclosed carrier, so no complaints- you just have to be willing to do some "dealer prep" work on arrival. Overall, I felt like I was dealing with friends or family, not strangers. They made a quick haul at a very good price, never pressured or tried slick sales tactics, and had courteous. capable, drivers that I would feel good about going fishing with if they lived nearby. I think it makes a difference that I dealt directly with the trucking company instead of a broker. I would not hesitate to use Mid-America again. They are based in Van Buren, AR.
