I am not the person having the car shipped. I am the carrier that does the work. Open Road is simply one of thousands of brokers in this industry. I am very busy and successful at what I do. I am riding down the road early last month and I get a call from a real nice guy name Bruce Shine. He's got a serviceman's car stuck at the Charleston Processing Center and he is running out of time to get it out. The pay for the job is fair. The serviceman is in training so I can deliver at my leisure(weeks). So I accept the dispatch and rescue the car and place it in my secure holding area and deliver it a couple weeks later the whole time communicating with the car owner. Dispatch was COP. Didn't happen. Paperwork sent to Ann who promised immediate payment to honor original dispatch. Claimed to not get it. My accounting software knows she did. Resent. Nothing. Called every week. Ann literally told me to not call back and she would pay whenever she wasn't so busy...she didn't have time. I would call back anyway but no answer. Now over 30days past due. Now they have discontinued themselves from Central Dispatch and their phone number is disconnected. As a customer here is what you need to know. I delivered the car because I am not going to let a serviceman suffer from my accounts receivable fallout, but that fallout could be real. I would have had every right to hold the vehicle and charge storage until COP was met. If you use these people for service, measure their words carefully because they have lied and cheated this company. If you are a carrier don't unload car till cash is in hand. I have been a one person business for over 10years since I retired from executive management. In that time I had one person forget to pay me and did so immediately when I called to remind him and only now this situation. I like brokers that aren't liars, greedy or dishonest....but they don't do the work....would not be surprised to see Mr. Shine running for public office in FL...you have been warned
