This company should not be allowed to operate. They picked up my vehicle on 5-2-19. It turns out that the vehicle pickup was the only thing that went right.
The bill of lading provided was for the wrong vehicle (listed as 2010 Toyota 4runner) my vehicle is a 2014 Toyota 4runner. They actually sent a separate shipping company to pick up the vehicle in Longview and ship to Dallas, Texas (I only found this out when I followed up). I only approved Toral Motor LLC to use their company trucks to ship the vehicle and only shipment from Longview Texas to Portland Oregon was approved, so this is the first illegal thing this company did.
The contract stated that the vehicle was to be delivered no later than 5/9/19. The point of contact (Sofia) originally confirmed that the driver would arrive in Portland on 5/7/19, even though the contract allowed Toral Motor to deliver two days later. On 5/7/19 I never heard back from Sofia so I called multiple times. Her voicemail as well as the voicemail of the driver and the owner were not set up, which should have been a red flag from the start. I then texted Sofia asking where the vehicle was and she stated it had not left, they blamed it on maintenance. They never once told me the vehicle was not on the way. This is when I started to get a bad feeling about the situation. I asked when the vehicle would arrive now and Sofia stated the driver would leave on 5/7/19 and would arrive on 5/10/19, so I followed up on 5/8/19 to confirm the driver had left. Sofia confirmed in writing that the driver left on 5/7/19 as discussed so I patiently waited for the vehicle to arrive again.
On 5/9/19 I followed up again with Sofia to see when the vehicle would arrive. I received no response. On 5/10/19, the day my vehicle was due to arrive, I followed up again. Sofia's response was "I am trying to get in contact with the drive." She then confirmed the vehicle would arrive on 5/13/19 now. I asked numerous times where the present location of the vehicle was and they were all ignored. I literally had no idea where my car was and all numbers listed under Toral Motor LLC were not responding. I just wanted my vehicle back and actually told Sofia I would pick it up and drive it myself because I did not want to deal with their shady behavior any longer. She confirmed again that the vehicle would arrive 5/13/19, and ignored my request to share the vehicle's location.
5/13/19 rolls around and no contact from Toral Motor LLC or the driver. I again ask what is going on and they do not respond. On 5/15/19 I inform Toral Motor LLC that I will be filing a claim with the USDOT as well as the FMCSA. On 5/15/19 Sofia responds with a statement saying "please hold off on submitting the claim the vehicle will be arriving 5/20/19 and we will reduce the price to $800." I did not want them to ship the vehicle any longer I just wanted to pick it up myself and drive it myself, that way I would know where it was and I wouldn't worry about this nonsense any longer. Sofia again confirmed the vehicle would 100% arrive on 5/20/19 so I gave this joke of a company another chance.
On 5/19/19 I call Sofia again asking why I have not received a confirmed delivery window, stating the contract specifically requires 24 hour notice to the customer with a confirmed delivery window. I receive no response on 5/19/19. I then receive a text from Sofia on 5/20/19 stating "the driver did not end up leaving and the vehicle is still in Dallas." I was absolutely irate by this point because I could have flown to Dallas and driven the vehicle back myself if they wouldn't have lied to me 4 times now.
She finally gave me the address where my vehicle was being stored, which brings us to the second illegal thing Toral Motor LLC did. It was being stored at their house....which was not approved by me. At this time they had possession of my vehicle for 18 days and I had absolutely no clue how the vehicle was being stored. They told me I could pick up the vehicle now in Dallas. I declined because I knew if they hadn't stored the vehicle properly there was a potential the vehicle was damaged. If I picked up the vehicle then I would assume responsibility for any damage that occurred in the last 18 days. I told them to ship the vehicle to Portland and honor the contract they had signed.
At this time I started a claim with my insurance company reporting the vehicle as stolen, as Toral Motor LLC was holding my vehicle hostage and at a non-approved location (their house). Toral Motor LLC was now ignoring all of my phone calls so I legitimately believed my vehicle was stolen. It wasn't until I called the owners number from a blocked number that I reached him. He then proceeded to tell me that I should call the cops and proceeded to increase the price for shipment. So just to sum up, Toral Motor LLC has had my vehicle for 18 days, failed to ship the vehicle, failed to disclose the location of the vehicle, discounted the price for their late delivery, and their owner is now trying to bump the price back up to $1,000. HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE......
After getting the shipping broker involved to mediate it was agreed that Toral Motor LLC would honor the $800 and ship the vehicle from Dallas 5/24/19 and arrive in Portland on 5/27/19 in the afternoon. On 5/27/19, what do you know, I haven't heard from them again. I was given the wrong phone number for the truck driver but was finally able to confirm the vehicle was in Oregon, however the driver got a flat tire and would arrive on 5/28/19 in the morning. This was the first honest statement from Toral Motor LLC.
The vehicle arrived and I was hoping this is where the story would end. This is where it gets really bad. The vehicle was in mint condition when it was picked up. In fact their Bill of Lading shows no damage. When I received the vehicle it was covered in pine needles, and when I took a closer look it appeared the entire roof, sides, bumper, rims, and door panels were covered in scratches. Some scratches were deeper than others but it was appalling that they had mishandled the vehicle like this. There was dirt, grime, and spider webs on the vehicle. I get it the dirt and grime are from the 2100 mile journey but the damage was unacceptable.
The driver tried to rush me for payment, I basically told them to get in the vehicle and allow me adequate time to assess the damage on the bill of lading. I had to write two pages describing the damage to the vehicle. I then spoke to the drive and said I need you to sign the bill of lading and provide me the insurance information so that I can start a claim. The driver refused to sign any documents which is completely illegal. Toral Motor LLC would not provide the insurance policy number and it took hours to get the phone number for the insurance company. At this point there was no point in arguing with the driver, what they were doing was illegal and sitting and waiting for them to understand this was useless. I will be pursuing them in court for the damages.
