I have a string of emails that will convince you not to use this company. I gave them a available date of the 29th of october, and was quoted a 1-5 day pickup window from that day. I was also told that I would be sent some paperwork that needed to be faxed back to the company. That paperwork never came. The day before the 29th, i emailed to ask about the paperwork. This was the response.

"That is because your scheduling window starts tomorrow. You gave us a first available date as of tomorrow. That means that you will be scheduled between one and five days from tomorrow. We will notify you once we have someone. "

Sounds ok right? Keep reading... November 1st, 4 days into my pickup window, i sent this email:

On Sat, Nov 1, 2008 at 12:24 AM:
"Tomorrow is the 4th day after I've scheduled. Is there any word in a transporter? Just checking up on the process. Thank you in advance."

Got this response:
"We are still looking for a driver for you, it shouldn't be much longer. We will contact you as soon as we have something."

7 days after availability, i send this email:
On Tue, Nov 4, 2008 at 2:40 PM:
"Today marks day 7 after availability. Is there any word or should I look for another carrier?"

I get this response:
"We are still looking for you. It doesn't matter which broker you use, we all use the same exact vehicle load board. Booking with a different broker will not get you moved faster. The only thing that will is to raise the bid."

This is where things get interesting...
I respond that day with this email:
On Tue, Nov 4, 2008 at 4:33 PM:
"What are your steps to ensure that a carrier will be provided? I made these arrangements with a deadline on the other side. What is the longest I can expect to wait for a carrier to be assigned? "

I get THIS RESPONSE:
"We put your order to an online order board. We are a listing agent. Drivers call us to accept the bid. Pick ups are estimates. We cannot force drivers to run particular routes, they determine their routes by what business arises. They do not have set schedules and pre-determined routes."

So i finally send this email:
On Thu, Nov 6, 2008 at 11:56 AM:
Chris,
"I don't think that this is going to work out. Please take my listing off your board. I'll find another way to get my car there. If you have no way of letting me know how long it's going to be, or when I can expect pick up, I can't take a chance."

And get this response:
"OK, its cancelled"

SO, if you want to pay someone 200 bucks for just listing something on a online board and not knowing when your car will be picked up or even put on a contract, use them. By the way, on november 5th, i put a request into Specialty Mobile Systems, and had a carrier, and a contract and a pickup date within 24 hours. See my review of them!!! SO, it does matter which "broker" you use, and you don't have to raise the bid, you just have to do your job. One plus about the company; they didn't charge my cc until the bid was picked up. So at least i didn't have to get a refund.

In case you are wondering who is writing this, I am a military officer that had a permanent change of duty station move. I wasn't asking for much, just someone to trust. That didn't happen here. So, my suggestion, find someone else to move your precious cargo.

Everything he said here is true, except that we didn't charge him anything. We do not charge our deposit until a driver is secured. He may have thought he paid because we do take a credit card to start the order but we don't charge anything to it until we have done our job. In response to the delays: We are a brokerage, not a trucking company. The estimates we give are based on prior shipments. They are not guarantees. We are very explicit about this.
