I have gone through hell and am back, so if you are planning to move any time in near future do read about my bitter experience and save your self from any losses.
Let me give you my background, I was living in Washington DC and was to move to California SFO, I had 2 vehicles that I had to move from east to west coast.
Like any other person I turned to internet and added my query for a quote, in no time my inbox and voice mail was full, I happen to take a call unfortunately from Universal Transport Services ,Inc (Address:1250 E Hallandale Bch Blvd STE 602 Hallandale, FL 33009), I wanted to get a quote and the person on line gave me a quote which i did not like as I have seen better numbers, he asked for my credit card to keep on file in order to provide me a final price and I carelessly gave it out, in return he gave me a more aggressive quote, to which I said I need time to think about it, call was over.
Next day I notice a $450 charge on my card by Universal Transport Services without my authorization, searched internet to find the company and tried calling them back and also wrote emails. I get the reception and she forwards my call to a voice mail, emails are never answered. This goes on for 10 days while I am working with the Credit Card company and still no response from these guys.
I started looking for a new carrier and all carriers mention that my quote has been listed by universal and they can not book me unless I ask universal to remove my listing.
Universal people (BTW very rude bunch) are not ready to talk to me.
I wrote emails to company with the name of the person I talked to first day, I get a call from this guy who tells me he knows my address and will come and hunt me down.
In the mean while company also contacted me and they refuse to take down my listing and my move date is getting dangerously close.
They knew my move date and were black mailing me, finally they gave me an offer to move my vehicle for double the original quote and at dates which were way off from what requested, since I had no other option complied and finally moved my vehicle at double the price and at all wrong dates.
Lesson Learnt:
Never give Credit Card to any unless you have talked to the driver of the truck who will move your goods, only deal with the actual carrier and be very aware of brokers, specially Universal Transport Services ,Inc
If you get any inquiry calls make sure it is a carrier if not, drop the call, you will be robbed
I contacted may agencies and they all said only option is you can write a review or go to court with a lawyer
