I can tell you that he demanded the driver come pick up his car during a Tornado warning.
UPDATE 6/6/08...The driver refused to pick up the vehicle on 3/19 because there were 11 tornado warnings in the Carrolton area on that day. He picked it up the next day and headed to Dallas then San Antonio then to our client. There was bad weather the entire time (one of which a tornado hit ATL during that time that was NATIONAL NEWS). The client was very rude to the driver and told him that he should be less SCARED of the weather and more scared of him. The driver didn't want to even pick up the vehicle after that but was courteous and professional enough to continue as the clients were probably just stressed over their move and needed a venting subject.
We have a 1-7 day guaranteed window for pick up for the Standard rate that is CLEARLY spoken, written and made OPEN to our clients. He made the reservation on 3/18/08. On 3/19/08 the driver was scheduled but MOTHER NATURE decided to play around in GA and the driver WAS not going to load a vehicle in TORNADO WARNINGS, HAIL DROPPING AND LIGHTING with a 53 foot trailer made entirely of metal. Just not a SMART THING TO DO. The driver was a day behind due to the weather and then again delayed in MS and TX due to the NEXT ROUND OF STORMS coming across. He kept Mr. Sandeep abreast of his whereabouts at all times but as before they INSISTED he drive directly to THEM FIRST and forget about the other 9 clients along the way. We can't do that.
I did offer for him to let me transfer it to another truck in MS that was headed to Austin directly but he would have to pay transfer fee of $85.00 and he refused. He also wanted a refund for late pickup. IT WAS NOT LATE PICKUP the vehicle was picked up with 41 hours of being made available and delivered with in a reasonable time with weather, traffic and DOT Laws being abided. 3-6 days for GA to TX. It took 6 days (really 5.5 days cause it was early am on the 6th day :) )
Mr. Sandeep even tried to Bribe the driver to run "illegally" during his down time (which we don't do).
All in all the client was wanting specific dates without paying for expedited service (that rate is 800.00).
Over the road Logisitics is hard enough to fit all 10 clients schedules and we do a GREAT job of it most of the time but when Mother Nature is the hold up, our hands are pretty much tied and Sandeep, the driver, myself and ALL OF GA knows the weather conditions from 19th thru 22nd therefore we apologize he didn't have a GREAT experience but he did have the BEST SERVICE ANYONE COULD OFFER during that time.
Maybe one day we will be able to CONTROL the weather and make everyone happy, but at this moment our drivers safety, our clients and their vehicles safety are far more important to us than anyone who insist we follow their demands. Plus, can you imagine how YOU would feel if we picked up his car with all that hail and how your car would have looked when
