I find my dream car?
In Aug of 2008, I located a beautiful, like new 1986 Porsche 951 Turbo. It was still owned by the original owner, and had only completed 45k miles in 22 years. It is a concourse show car, and as it was when it came fresh from the factory in Stuttgart. I was advised by the Porsche garage that did the PPI that it was the finest example of any Porsche 951 (aka Porsche 944 Turbo) they had ever seen. It is rated in the top 5% of any 951 out there. As stated, the car is like new without flaw. I searched long and hard for many years for a car of this caliber.

Enter US Canada Auto Transport:
I search around the internet for a transport company that offered quick service at a good rate. US Canada Auto Transport offered a delivery time from MA to British Columbia Canada in 12-14 days from pickup, and at a cost of $3035 US. The delivery time, and cost was better than any other transport company by 14 days, and almost $1000. Also, a quaint sounding South African sales rep by the name of Selwyn added to the bait. Hook line and sinker....

I was advised that the transport would take 12-14 days by Selwyn (I have corresponding emails, and contract to back that up), and that the carrier would be an enclosed transport. Sounded good. I paid the fee by way of wire transfer. Pick up was late. My car was on a milk run, and was the last one to be picked up. At that time, no problem. The car is picked up on Sept 20, 2008. The seller brought the car, and met the trucker. It was loaded. When it was loaded, it was still in pristine condition. The pickup check sheet, a mess of scratch and unreadable gibberish that was scrolled onto a sheet of paper. It stated that the car was in good condition with nothing of note. This document was not forwarded to me.

Transport is in full swing. I call in a for an update after about a week. Selwyn advised me that he didn't know where the truck was and that they had no way to track it. No way to track it? No GPS on any of the trucks? He could have called the dispatch to ask where the truck was by way of cell phone call to the trucker. He was too lazy to do that. "Call back next week", he advised. I call back days later to get an update. Still, the same answer. By this time it is past the 12-14 transport time. I asked why it would be longer than the 12-14 day time as stated. His answer, "What car is yours? Where is it going?" Realize by this time, I had been in email and phone contact with Selwyn for almost a month. This includes pre purchase conversations, and information gathering. He needed to be reminded every time. Poor memory? Busy? Selwyn would then say, "Check back next week". Again, all he needed to do is call the trucker and ask. He didn't. Lazy.

By week 2.5, I call, and he says that the car is in WA waiting to be picked up? Picked up? Why does it need to be picked up? Selwyn stated that the US truck didn't travel North of the boarder. A Canada truck would pick it up, and bring it over the boarder. I was never advised of that. Selwyn advised that the car would be picked up shortly. Never giving a solid date. I let a few days pass. The car was still not picked up. I let a few days pass, and call again. He needs to get all my information again. "What car is yours?" "Where is it going?" Keep in mind, I am on a first name basis with Selwyn. He plays that he doesn't remember me or my car every time I call. He advised my car was in transport with the new truck and would be arriving at my house in 2-3 days.

2-3 days pass. I don't hear from the driver. I call Selwyn. He checks, and says it's in Vancouver. I was told that it would go straight from the boarder to Kelowna BC. Selwyn did not know the route of the truck. He says, "Why don't I give you the number of the dispatch for the trucker". He does this to get me off his back. I'm being a squeaky wheel at this point, and have been for some time. I call the trucker dispatch, and they advise that the truck is in Edmonton Alberta. What? I was told that it was in Vancouver BC. I call Selwyn. He doesn't know up from down.

The trucker dispatch gives my number to the trucker. He contacts me on day 24 of the transport advising that he will be in my area the following day.

Oct 15, 2008, my car arrives. It's unloaded. The trucker gives me a sheet to sign to state that the car was received in good condition. I take a walk around it. Everything looks good. I am staggered at the beauty of the car. He says, "Sign here stating that it's ok". I sign it, and he says, "That way any damage isn't my fault". That made me pause for a breath. I take the car home after a very easy three mile, 'driving miss Dasy' drive. Once home, I notice a large puddle of oil under the engine. I lay on the driveway to investigate. I see a lot of oil coming out. It's dripping. I also notice side skirt damage on the right side of the car.

** OF NOTE ** Both the seller (A Porsche car locater who is very reputable and honest) and the Porsche garage (who is also very reputable and honest) both stated that the car did not leak a drop of oil, and that there was no damage on the car. I checked the seller and garage out before using them. There were many reviews on the seller. Not one customer had any poor things to say about the vehicles or service. The garage is the same. I had no reason to doubt their truthfulness.

I called up Selwyn right away. He claims that it's out of his hands and there was nothing he would or could do about stating that under carriage damage was not covered. He didn't address the side skirt damage. He asked me to send photos. I took photos and sent them within an hour of discovering the damage and oil. Two days pass, and nothing is heard from Selwyn. During which time I contacted the garage and seller. They both confirmed to me that the car was in pristine shape with no damage or oil leaks. I contact Selwyn. He advised that the claims manager was being consulted. I don't hear anything for about a week. I contact Selwyn. He sends an email stating, "Sorry, we are not honoring your claim. We aren't going to do anything".

I am fuming at this. I sit on it for a couple days. I contact him again. He doesn't budge. He stated that the car, and I quote, "Is 22 years old, and the side skirt damage is to be expected from a vehicle of such age. Also, it might have come loose in transport". Pardon me? The car is a show car. I advised him of that. He didn't comment.

I contact him advising that they will repair the damages. I also advise my lawyer will be in contact. Selwyn comments, "If you feel the need to include you lawyer, go ahead". I contact the BB of San Diego, and start a complaint. Three mediated emails and contact with the BB leaves them siding with US Canada Auto Transport stating that they have tried to resolve the issue, and that US Canada Auto Transport has gone over and above. They did nothing.

My car was delivered with 35 unexplained miles on it. The pick up sheet did not have the mileage documented on it. The seller told me the mileage at pick up. I checked the mileage on drop off. It was off by 35 miles. US Canada Auto Transport did not comment on that, or care to explain it. Some one took my car for a joy ride.

My experience:

Late pick up
No knowledge of where the truck it
No knowledge of when the truck will arrive
Selwyn stated he NEVER told me 12-14 days
Selwyn was lazy and acted aloof
Selwyn asked me, "Wasn't your car picked up with a lift gate truck?" He didn't even know what type of truck it was
Late delivery
Run around
Poor customer service
Lie after Lie
Terrible customer satisfaction
Late delivery
35 unexplained miles to which US Canada Auto Transport refused to comment on

In closing:

US Canada Auto Transport subcontracts independent auto truckers. They tell you very little about the process and speed along to make the sale. They are not accountable. They will not stand by their service. They refused to repair the damage they caused, or explain the extra mileage. They are con artists. They are liars. They are the WORST company. They will not stand by their promises. They will do everything they can do to brush you off. They will lie. They will make false statements. They damaged my car, and added 35 unexplained miles to it, and they left me with a big F you.

NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY TRANSPORT. TELL OTHERS OF MY EXPERIENCE. THEY MUST NOT BE USED. US CANADA AUTO TRANSPORT IS THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER MET, OR USED. IF YOU MUST TRANSPORT, USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY. PAY THE EXTRA MONEY. IT WILL BE WORTH IT'S WEIGHT IN GOLD TO AVOID HEADACHES WITH THESE CLOWNS.

STAY AWAY. BOYCOTT US CANADA AUTO TRANSPORT. SPREAD THIS STORY AROUND THE INTERNET.
